Frequently Asked Questions
Here we have some of the most frequently asked questions about balloons. If there is anything else you would like to know please get in touch.
What types of balloons do you offer?
We supply all types of helium and air filled balloons. If you can dream it, we can probably get it!
What are the balloons made of?
We sell a variety of balloons – these are made of latex, foil backed plastic, and plastic. Latex comes from the sap of the tropical rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis). Therefore, it is biodegradable at approximately the same rate as an oak leaf meaning it can be composted. Foil and plastic balloons are not biodegradable and must be disposed of in the appropriate waste bins.
I have a latex allergy, what balloons can I buy?
Some people are allergic to the protein in latex which is the substance that makes latex so elastic. Therefore, products which are stretchy, like balloons and gloves, are more likely to cause an allergic reaction than products which are solid, like car tyres. If you are allergic to latex you can buy foil balloons or plastic balloons such as bubbles or clearz. However, as we produce all of our displays in the same room we CANNOT guarantee that our displays are totally latex free. The symptoms of a latex allergy vary from person to person. People with a latex allergy can develop symptoms immediately after being in contact with latex. However, some people have a delayed reaction which is more likely to be an itchy rash. These people are more likely to be allergic to other substances in rubber production rather than the latex itself.
The degree of allergic reaction varies from person to person. Some people may have a mild reaction to latex, which might include itchy eyes, sneezing or a runny nose, or an itchy rash, while other people may have a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis.
Please be sure to inform us if you or someone attending an event has a latex allergy, and we will do all that we can to limit cross contamination of latex and latex free balloons.
My balloon was collected/delivered and has popped since, what can you do?
Once a balloon has been collected or delivered in good order, we are sorry but we cannot accept responsibility for popped balloons. Certain conditions affect the float times/life of balloons such as very hot or very cold conditions, direct sunlight or high humidity. We know that this is disappointing but balloons are quite delicate. We also cannot accept responsibility for over zealous children (or adults) playing with balloons. Sharp corners WILL damage balloons.
Breathing helium sounds fun, should I have a go?
HELIUM DOES NOT SUPPORT LIFE – please do not breathe the gas inside any balloon. Breathing in pure helium can cause death by asphyxiation in just minutes. Inhaling helium from a pressurised tank can also cause a gas or air embolism, which is a bubble that becomes trapped in a blood vessel, blocking it. The blood vessels can rupture and haemorrhage. By breathing helium gas you are depriving your body of oxygen which can cause black out, collapse and in worst cases death.
We also treat our latex helium balloons with a product called “Hi-Float” this is like a glue coating on the inside to make them last up to 25x longer, it does not taste nice!
Do you sell balloons for release?
No. If we think that individual balloons are being purchased for release we will not sell them to you. Sadly, when balloons are released – especially with ribbons attached, they can cause significant harm and death to our wildlife. For more information relating to this policy please visit Balloons Blow.
We know that when a balloon is released it feels like you are sending it up to heaven to a loved one, but in reality you are not. We will be happy to discuss alternatives with you such as planting trees, releasing butterflies or doves or scattering native wildflower seeds.
